Seventeen Photo Flawless Primer

This is something I have had floating around my make-up bag for a while now without me trying it. I decided to give it a go though and with all the hype around primers I thought it deserved a review :)

Now....before I start, just to be clear this isn't a PR post, I got this as part of the Seventeen make-up set which was half price for the Star Gift around Christmas at Boots. You'll see why I said that in a minute!

Photo Flawless Primer, claims to minimise pores and make your skin look flawless...big claims? Well they are right! This is actually amazing! I love it! See why I had to say it isn't a PR post? You'd think they were paying me, I wish!
I noticed the minute I put it on how much smoother, fresher and brighter my skin looked and actually had to do a double-take when I put my foundation on as my skin looked that good! Not something I usually think when I look in the mirror!

My daily "work" eye-shadow, which can sometimes drop a little (which is a shame as I love it but was starting to go off it because of this- Rimmel's Spicy Bronze if anyone is interested) stayed on perfectly, not even a speck out of place. I have been putting it on in the morning and have found my make-up has lasted longer, and looks much better and fresher when I get to the end of the day.

It its a gorgeous silky liquid which makes your skin feel so soft and smooth. The primer has had amazing reviews on the Boots website so I am not the only one who loves it! Even better with £2 off at the moment making it £2.99 instead of £4.99, which is still worth paying for this little gem. If you haven't tried a primer before or aren't sure which to get then go get it, now! You can buy it here. I promise it is worth it :)

My Hair Heroes

I'm going a little blogging mad today, but have had nothing better to do so you'll have to put up with my ramblings. I've noticed a lot of January essentials and posts around hero products recently, so I thought I'd chip in with my favourites. I have really fine flat hair which I hate so for me it's all about the volume, so here are a few of my tried and tested favourites. 

My daily essential is Schwartzkopf Got2b Powderful Volumising Styling Powder. This little gem comes out a little like talcum powder and you rub it into your roots for amazing volume which really does last all day. A little goes a long way but you can use more for really big hair for a night out. It does make your hair feel a little dry though so I always make sure I brush it out thoroughly before I go to bed although I do use it again every morning. I really can't say enough how much I love this and at £4.07 it is a bargain as it lasts for ages!

Trevor Sorbie Beautiful Volume Volumising Mousse is another of my essentials. I use this before blow-drying my hair to give it extra volume. I have been using this for a few years now and I can definitely tell if I miss a day. It really does make a difference and lasts until I sleep on my hair and ruin it. At £5.10 it is worth the money as it also lasts for ages and I usually stock up when they are 3-for-2 or 3 for £10 at Boots (which is quite often, 3-for-2 at the moment). I haven't got round to trying the rest of the range yet but have heard good things from customers so I am intending to try the shampoo and condition when I use up some of the others I have left at the moment. 

This one is a newbie, I haven't found a heat protection spray I like as much since they changed the Tony and Guy stuff a while ago, so I have been trying product after product to find a keeper. I think this could be the one. I picked it up as they are on 2 for £5 at Boots so I thought I'd give it a go, volumising spray and heat protection sounded perfect for me and well, it is! I have only used it a few times so far but have noticed my hair isn't so flat at the roots and feels really soft but not flat like the Tresemme heat spray left it :(

At £3.89 I would say it's worth a go if you, like me, straighten your hair everyday but suffer from fine, flat hair.

So there we go, those are my couldn't live without, take them everywhere with me kind of hair heroes. I have tried all sorts of other hair products but keep coming back to the same ones.

Models Own Mirrorball

Today was supposed to be a day of essay writing for me as I need to hurry up and finish my Masters assignments so I can start writing my dissertation but after about half an hour I got bored and decided to paint my nails. This is how I have spent the last year and a half as I have the attention span of a fish when it comes to doing work but never mind at least my nails look nice :)

Today I am going for my favourite glitter as I haven't been feeling glitters recently but I love this one. Models Own Mirrorball polishes are amazing! They come in five different colours containing a mixture of different size and shape chunks of glitter in different colours. I have Boogie Nights, a mix of purple, pink and blue, and  Freak Out! a mix of purple, blue and turquoise. I find they work best if you place the glitter rather than paint it on to get a better coverage.

I love the colour you get over Barry M Gelly in Blackberry (again! yes this is my favourite polish and may actually be the first one I use the entire bottle of!!)

The light isn't the best here but you can see the effect you get with the different colour glitter pieces.

They last really well without chipping but the only issue I do have is the amount of time they take to dry which for me usually means I end up smudging them before they dry and having to touch them up again. Because of the different glitters though, they look almost 3-D as they show up so many different colours in the light. Models Own are buy one get one half price at the moment at Boots, which at £5 each makes them a bargain.

MUA Sale Haul

Just a quick post today to show a few of the bargains I picked up during MUA's 50% off sale to celebrate reaching 50,000 likes on facebook. This meant things like lipsticks and nail polishes were only 50p so I took the opportunity to pick up some things I might not normally have tried just to experiment a little and I am glad I did! This whole lot cost me less than £20 which is amazing! I managed to grab the rest of the colours I needed in the fur and constellation nail effects but I won't mention those as I have already blogged about them.

I have seen a few posts about fixing sprays and there was a big hype in Boots when Collection 2000 released theirs, but I have never tried one and to be honest I'm still not convinced. I used this before I went to work yesterday and I'm not sure it made a difference, but I do think it makes your skin look brighter. I don't really have oily skin though so perhaps I don't really need it as my make-up does tend to stay quite well through the day. 

These little beauties cost me 50p (usually £1) each so I thought I'd go for a few different colours and I picked l-r shades 14, 5, 7. 14 is a lovely matte pale nude shade, 5 is a gorgeous shimmery pink and 7 is a more reddish pink with a bit of sparkle. I am really impressed with these for the price as they stay on really well and give a gorgeous colour. They also have a small pot of gloss in the bottom, an added bonus which work really well on their own or over the lipstick for a bit of extra shine.

l-r 14, 5, 7. I have been wearing a 7 with a bit of the gloss from 5 over the top to tone down the colour a little and I love the effect you get from mixing them. I might have to have a trip to Superdrug to pick up a few more of these as the price means you can try out loads of new looks.

As part of a promotion a while ago, I got one of these glosses in a bright red shade and loved it so thought I would get another for 50p! They are gorgeous sheer glosses which give just a hint of colour and smell amazing. 

 I also picked up a gel eyeliner as I have been wanting to try one for a while but held off as I am useless at doing eyeliner with a brush. I am impressed with this though, you can use a little to get a smoky subtle effect or use it to create a deeper black line. I love the colour you get though and I might have to try the glittery grey shade which I was tempted to get as well. 

I also picked up a couple of blushers and a lovely gold shimmery bronzer for 50p each. I chose shades 3 and 4 in the blushers, 3 is a nice natural pink, whereas 4 is a little more peachy. They both blend really well though and I like the colours better than the No7 blusher I have been using which can be a little bright.

The bronzer gives a subtle colour without making you look orange. I don't usually use bronzer but I really like this one for just a little bit of colour.

Finally I got Kissproof lip stain in Fabulicious. I love lip stains and already have a few colours but this one caught my eye as it's a very natural pink. I like natural colours like this for when I'm at work and this one lasted really well.

All in all I am impressed with the quality of the products to say they are so cheap and I would definitely recommend MUA. My favourite things have to be the lipsticks though, the colours are gorgeous and I love the gloss on the bottom.
